A disastrous earthquake can happen anywhere, anytime, and to anyone. And it can cost hundreds or thousands (or millions or possibility, billions) of properties, human lives, etc. I do believe that, it is hard to predict earthquakes and tsunamis.
It is very shocking that an 8.9 earthquake and a tsunami that occurred in Japan yesterday. Footages of what happened yesterday in Japan, showed in various coverage in international and local media (including Philippine media), whether it is TV, newspapers, Internet, radio. Social networking websites Facebook and Twitter became a communication tool.
The earthquake damaged properties, roads, communications, etc. and it cost 100 or so deaths. The tsunami cost damages of properties. I don’t know the other results of the aftermath of the tsunami.
Japan received local and international help.
